Hey! Wake Up! Boynton on Board Sandra Boynton Books

I was hesitant to buy this book because of a complaint several other reviewers mentioned. There's a page that says "you're too small for basketball" and "you're too big to use the swings." I purchased it anyway because we've got so many bedtime books and this was our first good morning book. I'm glad I bought it though. My 18 month old loves this book! It's great to have an upbeat book to start the day with. There's also a small bit where a hippo says eww at broccoli stew.... But really, aside from rabbit, who wants broccoli stew for breakfast? It's hardly teaching kids that veggies are bad. Some people get worked up for no reason.

Hey! Wake Up! Boynton on Board Sandra Boynton Books Reviews

We have started a new ritual of reading books at wake up instead of just at bedtime or during the day. Our family is a huge Boynton fan and because of this we thought that our 15 month daughter would really be into this book. She likes to read it, but isn't into it as much as some other titles by Sandra Boynton. That being said, I don't really think you can be disappointed if you enjoy other books by this author. It is a silly story and has made our mornings snuggly, smiley, and happy.
Cute book with a great rhythm and rhymes! My 2 year old can't wait to get to the parts where he says the "ewww" after broccoli stew!
We are Boynton fans at our house and this is one of current favorites. We have so many goodnight books that this book about waking up and starting the day was a great addition. Our daughter loves Boynton books and usually has them memorized after only a few readings which means she can "read" them back to us, adding another level of fun to our story times.
Great wake-up book. Lots of our books were focused on bedtime, nap time, etc., so it was nice to find one for waking up... because seriously, Waking Up is Hard to Do when you're this toddler.
One of my child's very first books and we still have it and still read it to reminisce about when he was a baby and very small and we would talk about the things you do when you wake up! Love it! All little ones should have this AND the other Boynton books, "Going to Bed" and "Oh Me Oh My Oh Dinosaurs" . All were favorites of my little boy and they are very sturdy hard books that can take a lot of abuse on car trips, outdoors, fun to take along anywhere!
I have a 2-year-old son and we LOVE Sandra Boynton! Even though Hey, Wake Up! is a "morning" book, he asks for it at bedtime most nights. We actually have been reading the same 3 Sandra Boynton books at bedtime most nights for about a year and he never gets tired of them! My son has the book memorized and as he has gotten older I have started letting him finish sentences on each page since I haven't been able to get him to "read" the book to me himself yet. He likes to pretend to eat the food on the pages and say "Yum!" even to the broccoli stew, although in the book it says "Ew!" to the broccoli stew. I saw another reviewer complain about how it encourages kids to eat cookies for breakfast instead of broccoli, but in fact it does not have cookies for breakfast - that is for morning snack. For breakfast they have juice, cereal, buttered toast, and broccoli stew (for the rabbit). Even though the book says "Ew!" to the broccoli stew my son always says "Yum!" when he pretends to eat it and he gets mad at me if I saw "Ew!" As with all of Boynton's books, the book has a good sing-song type of rhythm which keeps younger kids attentive. The first books I was able to get my son to actually pay attention to the whole book were Boynton's books and he still loves them!
I already absolutely love reading Sandra Boynton's board books to my 16 month old son, they are always so fun to read and the drawings are adorable. This book reads almost like a song with a little dance in the beginning and my son loved it. Construction on these books is great, all of his Sandra Boynton books get lots of use and have held up much better than many of his other board books. I would recommend this book to anyone with a toddler.
